What the assessment includes
Every Florida assessment includes the components below. The exact scope of testing is tailored to your situation during your consultation.
Diagnostic interview
A structured clinical interview covering your developmental history, current functioning, work and academic context, sleep, medical history, and any prior diagnoses or treatments.
Validated testing
Standardized self-report measures, rating scales, and continuous-performance or related neurocognitive tasks appropriate to your situation. We use instruments with strong psychometric evidence in adult populations.
Collateral information
Optional input from a partner, parent, or coworker — gathered with your consent — to round out the picture when it would meaningfully inform your evaluation.
Detailed written report
A comprehensive, professionally formatted report documenting your history, test results, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations. Designed to meet the documentation standards employers, universities, and licensing bodies typically request.
Recommendations & next steps
Practical, evidence-based recommendations for treatment, workplace adjustments, academic accommodations, and follow-up care — yours to share with the providers and institutions you choose.

Serving Florida residents
Adults and students across the state
Focus Evaluations works with adults across Florida — including Miami, North Miami, Boca Raton, Tampa, and Naples. Assessments are conducted in person with a Florida-licensed psychologist. We confirm available locations and timing during your consultation. Remote sessions are available in select cases — for example, an initial clinical interview by secure video before the in-person testing day — but the assessment itself is an in-person evaluation.
Many of our clients are professionals working in South Florida's financial services, hospitality, real estate, and healthcare sectors, or in the technology and life-sciences corridors around Tampa and the South Florida tri-county area. We also work with college and graduate students at Florida universities — including the University of Florida, Florida State University, the University of Miami, the University of South Florida, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, the University of Central Florida, and Nova Southeastern University — who need formal documentation for their school's disability services office.
The assessment, report, and recommendations are the same wherever you live in Florida: thorough, honest, and built to be useful in the world you actually live in.

Our reports are written to be used — by the institutions, employers, and providers that actually evaluate accommodation and benefit requests. Common contexts include:
Workplace accommodations
Documentation aligned with how HR teams and managers evaluate accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act and similar workplace policies.
Academic accommodations
Reports written to the documentation expectations of Florida university disability services offices, professional licensing boards, and standardized testing accommodations panels.
Benefits and clinical care
Reports used in support of long-term disability and insurance benefit applications, and as a diagnostic foundation for treatment planning conversations with your existing providers.

About the assessment
How long does an adult ADHD assessment take?
Adult ADHD assessments typically span several hours, conducted across one or two sessions depending on the scope of testing and your availability. Your psychologist will confirm the exact format with you before scheduling.
What does the assessment include?
A structured diagnostic interview, validated self-report measures and standardized testing, optional collateral information from a partner or family member with your consent, a comprehensive written report, and recommendations for treatment and accommodations.
Are assessments in person or remote?
The assessment itself is conducted in person. In select cases, parts of the process — such as the initial clinical interview or follow-up discussion — may be conducted by secure video before or after the in-person testing day.
Documentation & acceptance
Will the report be accepted for workplace accommodations?
Our reports are designed to meet the documentation standards employers and HR departments typically request under the Americans with Disabilities Act and similar workplace policies. Acceptance is ultimately determined by your employer or HR department, and we're happy to walk through the report with you so you're confident submitting it.
Will the report be accepted for university disability services?
Our reports are designed to meet the documentation expectations of Florida universities' disability services offices, including the University of Florida, Florida State, the University of Miami, USF, FAU, FIU, UCF, and Nova Southeastern. Specific requirements vary by school and acceptance is determined by each school's disability services office — tell us during your consultation if your school has a particular documentation format.
Logistics & insurance
Do you accept insurance?
We are out-of-network with all insurance plans. We can provide a superbill — a clinical receipt — that many clients submit to their insurer for partial reimbursement of out-of-network mental health benefits. Coverage varies considerably by plan, so we recommend confirming your specific out-of-network coverage with your insurer before scheduling.
How long until I receive my report?
Most clients receive their report within a few weeks of completing the assessment. Your psychologist will share a personalized timeline during your consultation, taking into account any deadlines you have — for example, a school accommodation request or workplace HR submission.
